Sebastián Hofmann

Sebastián Hofmann (b. 1980, Mexico City), is a Mexican director, screenwriter, photographer and editor. Sebastián graduated from the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California. He took a master class in screenwriting in 2006 with director Todd Solondz. In 2010 he filmed the short film Jaime Tapones whose central theme inspired his debut feature. His work as a visual artist has been presented internationally in galleries and museums in New York, Sydney, Rio de Janeiro, Athens, Berlin, Santiago de Chile, Pasadena, Mexico City and Prague. His projects have been presented at the Sundance, Cannes, Rotterdam, Locarno, San Sebastian and other festivals and have won prestigious awards such as Best New Director at the Munich Film Festival, the Noves Visions Award at the Sitges Fantastic Film Festival, Best Film at the London East End Film Festival and Best Screenplay at Sundance. Sebastian's projects have received multiple funding and support, such as support for short films from IMCINE, FOPROCINE, EFICINE for production, the Hubert Bals Fund on two occasions and recently, the prestigious Netherlands Film Fund. Hofmann is the creator and star of Los Micro Burgueses, an independent web series of social criticism and absurd and irreverent humor. In 2011, he co-founded with producer Julio Chavezmontes the PIANO studio, an alternative film production house and auteur film distributor based in Mexico City. He is the son of Henner Hofmann, AMC, ASC, (born July, 1950) a Mexican cinematographer, producer and screenwriter
